Diagnostic Sleep Testing
Actigraphy
- Actigraphy is a medical-grade sleep tracking device that detects sleep-wake, activity, and light intensity. Actigraphy is used to characterize and diagnose types of insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and characterizes the sleep-wake cycle over a number of days. Its application in diagnosis and management of sleep disordered is outlined here in the AASM 2018 guidelines.
- Actigraphy testing involves wearing a device that looks like a wristwatch for 7 days and keeping a detailed sleep diary during the recording period.
- SSG will ship you the device, you wear it, then ship it back using the supplied return label.
- You will receive a detailed report containing a visual graph of your weekly sleep-wake pattern with sleep, light, and activity data along with recommendations for a customized sleep plan. Additional follow up visits may be needed for optimal results.
Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT):
- WatchPAT ONE is a cutting edge home sleep apnea test capturing 7 parameters (PAT®️ signal, heart rate, oximetry, actigraphy, body position, snoring, and chest motion) with 3 points of contact (finger, wrist, and chest).
- WatchPAT One provides AHI, AHIc, RDI, and ODI based upon True Sleep Time and Sleep Staging. WatchPAT is clinically validated with an 89% correlation to polysomnography1. The PAT signal was included in the 2017 AASM Clinical Practice Guidelines as technically adequate.
- SSG will ship you the device. Once received you will pair it with the PAT One app on your iPhone or Android, wear it overnight, and then throw it away.
- You will receive a detailed report in the patient portal within one week of receipt. Additional follow up visits are recommended to discuss the results in detail as well as treatment options.
SSG provides in-lab sleep testing (PSG, MSLT, MWT) in partnership with Swedish Sleep Center. Sales of CPAP equipment will be coordinated with an in network durable medical equipment company. Prescriptions for controlled substances require twice yearly in office visits. Dr. Broderick will help refer you to a comprehensive sleep center when indicated.
